Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2004 5:00 a.m. I have an interview in exactly five and a half hours at one of the most prestigious international clothing companies in downtown LA for a graphic design position in the advertising department. Why am I more nervous than usual? One, I really would like to work for this company. Two, I don't exactly have a lot of fashion or retail pieces in my portfolio, but that doesn't mean I can't handle it, though people tend to think you haven't done something of the sort, then you aren't as qualified. I must keep reminding myself that 1) I at least qualified or stood out enough for them to be interested in interviewing me, 2) They stress that due to the overwhelming response of folks interested in working for them, they only contact those individuals who seem to be a good match, 3) I seemed to have positively passed all the questions asked during the contact phone interview. Therefore, I'm getting the opportunity to step my foot into the door, at least just a little. For that, I am fortunate unlike all those others who didn't even get a call. Question now is: Will I survive past the interview and make it to the next round? Aaaggghhhh!!! Frick. This means I only have about three and a half hours of sleep left and I haven't even started.
