9:11 p.m.

Interview One: I had my first job interview after 2.9 yrs. It was also only my 4th one since college graduation in May of 1999. Back then, I remember I had snatched up the first job that offered me a position.....the same place where I've been since about 2 weeks ago.

So, today's interview was in a way a weird type of interview, solely because it was with a creative talent agency that finds work for you.

Basically, they hire you on and make a percentage of what you make if they like your work. You sign a contract stating that you will not independently be hired by any company where they find you work for at least a year after you've given them written notice that you no longer wish to be represented by them. So, that's the catch. I can terminate the contract anytime.

I interviewed with two people and they both stated that I have a strong portfolio with strong concepts. Wow! They really liked my packaging pieces. The weird thing is that everyone who has seen my portfolio has told me it was a strong book and yet, every time I think it needs more. So, it boosts my confidence up every time someone says, "You have a strong book." Even today, I showed my portfolio afterwards to porn-girl who's interested in using some of my pieces for a business pitch. If they get it, I'll get to freelance on the side with them. She told me I should do more packaging. Damn! Wow. It was great to hear that. Then, when J-boy had seen my portfolio last week, he had told me I had a strong book, as well. I think I just need to start believing them and stop doubting myself. Even CC-girl told me that recently.

Tomorrow, I have an "exciting" interview in Westwood with a very large consulting company with offices in other large cities, who needs to immediately fill a position. Their human resources manager found me through an online resume I had filled out and called yesterday.

The interview sounds so "important" and so "official" that I'm really excited. I feel good about this, but we will see. The position is for a production artist, which I'm not too thrilled about, but if the pay is excellent, the environment is exciting, and there will be room to grow, then, I will be happy.

Here's the schedule:

10:00 a.m. - Meet with the creative team, which consists of 3 people, all of whom are males and one of their names sound really familiar.

10:30 a.m. - Meet with the chief executive design officer, who also happens to be someone well-respected and admired in the design world, having been published in a few books and also is known to speak at AIGA meetings. This makes me a bit nervous, yet excited!

11:00 a.m. - Meet with the president of the company. Ai-yiya! This makes me nervous, too.

And my gosh.....this will be the first interview where I will be meeting with so many people. It just sounds so important and official. Is this typical for a creative/production position?

I was told to dress business casual and to bring an id card because it will be my ticket in (wow, security!). They are located in a business building on the 15th floor.

Wish me luck everyone!

I miss J-boy and am anxious to tell him about everything. No word from him for two days now. He said he'd call me this week to see when we can get together again. I know he's busy, going back to full-time work....commuting all the way to Long Beach each day and then rehearsal with the band on Tuesday nights. I hope and would expect to hear from him tomorrow. He better call tomorrow!

Everyone seems to refer to him as my boyfriend, which is what I would like him to be and it seems natural that we would be, but we haven't really had the "talk" quite yet. The so-called staying exclusive talk and the talk everyday on the phone sort of relationship. In a way, I still feel like it's too early. We haven't quite gotten there yet. Some small details are still missing that makes it unofficial, mostly on his part. I have a feeling I'm much more into him than he is into me. Grrr.
