Here's what you have to remember, nothing is permanent. Take this job and keep looking for your dream job. In the meantime, the owner will have someone to work for him and you'll have a steady paycheck and another slot on your resume. Just my 2 cents on it. :) Good luck either way. :) ~n~

Sounds like the life, you always get what you need, but not what you really want. Nevertheless, having a job in this economy is important, and it sounds like you will have an opportunity to be creative on your own, which may spark ideas that otherwise never would have materialized with others around. The balancing comes in letting the owner in some way or another that while you appreciate the offer, it's not like he's throwing you some lifeline and you have to feel compelled to be loyal to the end. Getting a part-time schedule is one way of going at that. You can always add on more hours if necessary, but stay away from making any decisions that tie you to the place. If a better opportunity comes up, fulfill whatever obligations you have to this guy then move on. I agree with N., the owner obviously needs someone as well, so it's not like you'll owe him anything more than a great effort. Good luck!
